ok one more brief interuption and then back to hurricane ridge. I just couldn't resist playing in the edit me at my reflection of something. I had the perfect use for it.
i had this texture for a long time one of the first I downloaded unfortunetly I don't really know whose it is all i have is pareerica on flickr group will have to do some research maybe I can find it on flickr. ugh I didn't know how to save them properly so that I could find the owner of them back then sorry.
bought a new point and shoot to take with me to San Francisco in a couple of weeks for the marathon. can't really take my big girl camera because traveling light and can't run with it. I bought a nikon coolpix s9100 so did a few test shots over the weekend while on a short hike. it was right at noon so very bright out (not complaining summer can stay as long as possible)
these weeds needed help though the original picture is below so I added kim klassens autumn texture in color burn mode then some pumpkin grunge to it and they really popped.
the theme for this texture Tuesday is gratitude I am so gratefully for a wonderful day in the sun with my hubby and dog.
one of the best things about stolling along the beach, a quiet deserted beach, is that you can reflect, think and dream. I added some pumpkin grunge and dream textures by kim klassen to this picture to spice it up a bit.
well last week I was gone and kind of screwed up the order of my posts so my texture Tuesday didn't post on Tuesday but Wednesday. ugh. here is this weeks post. I used the ceiling of one of the casinos in Vegas that I loved and added a couple different textures from kim klassen and a frame from shadowhouse.
i have been saving this shot for use on a texture tuesday. this happens to be my favorite shot that I textured. This was taken outside the Antietam inforamtion center.
I used kim klassen's texture pourous a different way. the photo itself has no texture on it. the very edges are dark only becuase the layer has texture layer has been multiplied and altered. I used pourous for the background resizing so it would be a 4 x 6 then added teh photo and text. then went back and added it again and as you can see used the multiply mode and took away some so it had some dark edges.
here is the original picture:
so see another use for textures.
check out all the other texture uses at the cafe:
check out the creative exchange for some gorgeous photos:
for texture tuesday this week we are to do somethign with 3's. I came up with this submission it actually has very little work done to it but you can see the pumpkin grunge by kim klassen really made it pop.
something I have wondered if it would work and over at kim klassen's last week she talked about. I used her golden texture on our picture here and it worked wonders for the darkness. originally my husband took this of me and my son but it lacked brightness so I added the color and then used a coffee shop frame and background paper to do the rest. still not happy with the picture but I will take what I can get since I don't get to see my son much
We planted our first small vegetable garden this weekend after almost 23 years of marriage we decided that it would be a fun project. we decided on a container grown one and put it on the new patio we put in the lower part of the yard last year. We planted snap peas, string beans, cantaloupe, zucchini and marigolds to help keep the bugs out of the garden.
added some Kim Klassen textures and a shadowhouse mask see more fun with textures at kim's texture tuesday.

this was taken in the arlington cemetery. I thought it needed a little more so added some texture and words The speach that ronald reagan gave is a powerful one you can see the speech here on youtube:
what would he say now America???
ok since I schedule out my posts sometimes weeks in advance and I just read that texture tuesday is suppose to use the the yesteryear texture you get a bonus post today;
I took this picture when I was in frederick, md and loved the way it looked but thought it needed just a little something so I added a texture by kim klassen to add just a little boost
Spokane is the lilac city and the month of may is our celbration with lots of parades and activities. Normally by the first few days in May they are all in bloom. Not this year here it is the end of the first week and may and this is all my lilac's are still not near full bloom.
I finally figured out, thanks to gail of digital photo walk taught me how to do a screen print yeah.. I have also placed a link to her page where she describes this in my tips page.
so anyhow here is the recipe for the ablove picture. As you can see I have Kim Klassen's warm sun texture and shadowhouse's oil painting with some masking done and lastly another shadowhouse mask on top. All done if photoshop elements 9
and for refrence here is the original picture
as you can see the original is a bit blurry and blah. seems we can't have a bit of sun without wind these days. ugh.
and for my sweeet shot of the week for my 3 boybarions:
a little while ago it was professional admin day or something politically correctly named like that. for us old timers it is secretary day. Several of us received roses from one of the guys in teh office and they were just to pretty not to take a picture of. All I had was my phone camera so took a quick shot and then I processed it at home with some new textures I won from bonnie at the original art studio. LOVE these new textures they turned in a poorly lit picture into a beutiful looking painting.
Today was suppose to be the song challenge of a song you can play on an instrument. well I can play NOTHING zip Nada nothing I tell you so instead I am playing in Kim Klassen's texture Tuesday check out her website at; http://www.kimklassencafe.com/ she has some awesome textures.
I took this on a blah no blue sky day in DC recently. by adding a little texture I made it more interesting.
the texture I used was grey day vintage and serindipity
hmm what do combat boots and dancing have in common. well my next song on my list.
How are you doing with the guessing so far???
today's song is one that makes you want to dance.
now this is a really old song
the song was released in 1966 just a year after I was born but somewhere along the way it really stuck in my head.
the singer is the daughter of someone famous
the boots I used are combat boots. A pair of my husbands boots that he kept after he retired last year from the air national guard. these boots have seen a lot of walking.
ok now that surely gave you the answer.... well unless you are way younger then me maybe.
the song is by Nancy Sinatra called these boots were made for walking. check out the video and the boots she has on aren't they starting to come back in style?? and you thought the girls wore short skirts now!!! I wonder if this was a controversial video when it came out???
Sometimes a mistake can turn out ok. the picture like I mentioned was a pair of my husbands old boots but I beefed it up heavily with textures. I wanted to portray old and tired boots so went heavy with a shadowhouse texture and then thought it reminded me of all the soldiers away from their families and how they wrote home so added a bliss and folly script texture. while unmasking a section of the boot I slipped and it caused a whitish are and I really liked that effect so continued to highlight around the boot to give it a little more of a feel.
Today's song is one that reminds you of someone. I was so glad to hear this on the list but then panicked trying to figure out how I would reproduce it. I wonder how many clues you will need to figure out this song.
This song reminds me of my son everytime I hear it.
Not sure exactly why other then I see his style of thoughts in this muscians words and maybe he even looks a little like him too. my son plays drums and while most of his music is NOT like this song at all he could do it.
the moon was taken by me during this years supermoon day in march. Then I added a texture layer by pareerica on flicker and then an overlay mask for the border by shadowhouse
ok some clues:
these are not stars
the bad has a bird name in it
the song is heard currently on the radio but is from last year
the moon has nothing to do with the song just thought it would be cool in teh picture.
the video is clever and also reminds me of my son.
today's song challenge is a song that makes you sad. This was a hard one to think of but then I heard this play on the radio and knew i had to do it for my song. I know this is going to be an easy guess for most of you.
Hope you are enjoying the blog hop of songs still time to join in if you like. Just let me know and we will add you to the list. Please visit the list to the right for more songs.
