my mom spent about 40 hours making this doll for me  I love purple and she knows it  its a wish fairy  you put a wish in her purse and she may grant it for you   I still need to do that

I added some lens flair and then a bokeh overlay by shadowhouse

Just enough

struggled with this theme from kim klassens beyond the layers class  finally came up with this




used just 2 layers of texture on this one called awaken and the other called chamomile  tried to make it uncluttered but couldn't resist putting some words in it

the dreamer

Its starts off with a burst of energy

You continue to pound away at it with your enthusiasm

knocking any loose stones out of the way as you go

there are ups and there are downs

And long flat parts that seem to go forever

you continue to knock those stones loose

you feel like giving up

but see the end in sight and just know you can make it

and knock away a few more stones

something inside you pushes you

its that finish line in your sights that gives you strength

until finally there are no more stones

for this is your dream

edited to add:  I had this post already to go and poof gone grrr  so in closing I just want to say as a teenager I use to write a little poetry I thought I might try writing a little more now and again and came up with this bit using a runner as a parody

the steel statue represents a big race we have here called bloomsday  since it snowed and was a blah day I added some textures by french kiss and an overlay by shadowhouse  did a bit of light rendering and added a border

Today's challenge was a song I know all the words to. hahaha.  I can't carry a tone let alone remember all the words to a song with the exception of one song

this really doesn't have the song happy birthday but it cracks me up all the same so putting it on here.

feel the music

I have always felt music should be felt not just heard.  Music is so much more then the sound of a voice and instruments.  A musician creates from the soul.  a talent I think that you are either born with or not born with. I was not born with it but I can see the beauty in almost every kind of music there is.  You can hear the words, and the sounds of the instruments but until you feel the music you don't really experience the music the way the artist envisioned their creation. 

My son is a drummer and a pretty good one at that and I don't say that because I am his mom.  he played in a band for a long time but currently just plays for fun because he is young and life is to busy with work and his business adventures.  But he will always have music in his life.  this is a picture of him a couple of years ago.  sadly the only one I have of him playing outside of the house.  And really not a good picture so altering it with layers, masks and words I feel like it brought it a new life. 

this picture also leads me into a new month.  April is going to be song month.  Alissa at Have Stroller will travel has challenged  a few of us to post to our blogs with a line up of some of favorite songs and such. the blog roll to the right of this post shows those playing.  please check them out.   if you would like to take part please let us know and we will add you to our blog roll.

moon over the courthouse

true lies.  
truth be known  yes it is a real moon and yes that is the courthouse lite up at night
but
the lie is they don't really appear like that in person all photo shopped and not the best job needs clean up like wires and needs some light added to make it look like it was shinging on the courthouse.  Not the best shot of a moon either but it was to hazy out. But wanted to try adding a moon to a shot so went with it.

snowflower

taking a break from my Vegas shots I played with texturing again.  still don't fully understand it but playing around helps.  created this with some shadowhouse textures. if you want to play with textures on your photos I highly recommend this site.  the textures are free and pretty cool.

so over at mortal muses  their next challenge is texturing.  I have never tried this and thought ok here is my chance.  so here is my very first attempt at texturing.  I was going for a bit of a collage type look but really wanted teh yellow to stand out.  what do you think?  could I do something different?

I don't remember the exact number of layers but I think I ended up with around 15 of them.  and believe you me I am NOT an expert at layers they still scare me quite frankly but eventually I will have them figured out right? hahahaa

floral fun

stop me I am addicted now to the photoshop paint brush.  I still am just playing around with no clue what I am doing but it is fun. 

So I played with the top image a bit and made these two photos.  the above using the pink flower as a spotlight and painting everything around it.  and the bottom flowers I painted them all to make it look like a painting

remember this flower from a week or so ago??

Ever know how you can get lost in something and well before you know it you have spent 2 hours doing it?? Well I was in Redbubble and looking at some photography challenges and one thing lead to another and 3 hours later I ended up playing in photoshop and came up with this image below.

I messed with the color, cropped, changed the background and I found the lighting effects too.

You really could spend days on a picture making it into something of some sort of art.

When you have time check out redbubble the artwork on there is amazing. I have been really liking some of the work by these two people but there are hundreds of other amazing works in there.
