rose bud

i don't know why but I always love rose buds probably more than a regular rose itself.  Something about the crispness of the small compact bud that soon will be bursting at its seems.

blue hue

iris

this is a blue iris from my mother in laws garden in nevada.  I love how soft and pretty the color came out.  bluish purples are so hard for me to get just right sometimes. but the fence in the background made a perfect backdrop.

edited to add opps that wasn't suppose to post today oh well there she is and 2 flowers in one day. hahaha

FLOWER FACES

I have heard people say that pansy's look like they have faces.  what do you think?

I just loved these.  they were sitting on my mother in law's back porch.

lilac blooms

I am sooooo excited I planted a special variety of lilac 4 or 5 years ago they were about 2 inches high at the time.  they are called a spokane lilac and one of them FINALLY is blooming.  they are suppose to bloom 3 different colors so we shall see.  this picture was taken with my cell phone during the wind so not great I instantgramed it spice it up.  the one below it was taken a few days earlier with the point and shoot.

Spokane lilac

yeah they are finally blooming.  Spokane is called the lilac city and may is full of festivals to celebrate it.  the kick off was last weekend with the bloomsday run.  soon will be the lilac parade.  this is my first bloom on the lilac bushes in my yard.

lilac bloom starts

may is also typically windy and rainy so getting a good shot is near impossible lately.

tulips at arbor crest

Flowers for Leontien
today's flower is to show support for a fellow blogger Nancy at four leaf clover tales who has been going through a tough time.  it is a surprise show of support.  check it out here at a rural journal.

these were taken today at a local winery, yes washington state has some of the best wines out there even award winning.  the tulips were in bloom and this was one of my favorite shots.

Flower tea

Tea flower

I have been playing with different apps on the phone and iPad. This flower was shot with iPhone and app called HDR pro. Edited in same program then sent to Flickr where I added it to this post via the iPad. Not totally ideal for grand photographs but pressed for time or vacationing photo sharing and blog posting it works great.

This flower is actually a tea. Hubby loves tea and someone gave him these flowers that you add hot water to after placing in tour tea pot and the grow into a flower. Pretty dang cool.

orchid

DSCN0216_3623

orchids were a main part of the conservatory in san francisco.  never been able to grow one myself but wow they had so many here and they were so beautiful might have to give it a try again.  one of the tips they said was don't overwater and don't over heat them.

DRACULA ORCHID

While in San Francisco I had a chance to spend a little time at the conservatory at the golden gate park.  one of its prized orchids is the dracula orchid.  I am having fun playing with that new technique I learned a few days ago and took the blah picture (took with point and shoot zoomed in as much as possible) and came up with this:

DRACULA ORCHID

per wikipedia :  The strange name Dracula, literally means "little dragon", referring to the strange aspect of the two long spurs of the sepals.

last rose

well almost took this about a month ago the weather has turned and leaves are falling.  no longer do we smell the roses and scents of sweetness.  In its place are crisp days and darker skys.  the sunlight falls sooner and darkness lasts longer.  no more do we have toes exposed just barely our noses.  makes me sad but glad to see the colors of fall.
