Fat tuesday

What would fat Tuesday be without a king cake????

I haven't had a king cake since I left Houston about 17 years ago. Wow I can't believe it's been that long ago.

So I bit the bullet and ordered one for today. Right from new orleans. Which by the way is some place I recommend everyone see at least once great culture experience. It came and I decorated it with the frosting and sugars it's a coffee cake that comes in different varieties my favorite is the cream cheese

Green means faith. Gold means power and purple means justice

Tradition holds that the person that gets the piece with the trinket (usually a baby) inside it brings the cake and hosts the next party. And they are king or queen of the party

How did you celebrate Marci GRAS ? What will you give up for kent tomorrow??? I might give up king cake hahaha.

Today's challenge was a song I know all the words to. hahaha.  I can't carry a tone let alone remember all the words to a song with the exception of one song

birthday man

my son turned 20 yesterday.  20??? how did that happen?

his favorite cake and because typically his birthday week is the hottest week of the year for us we get the peanut butter playground cake from coldstone ice cream. yummmy but very rich.

for whatever reason be it busy talking or just tired from a long day I took only a couple of pictures egads.  and this was my sons resonse to hey I didn't take your picture.  thanks Kris.

i really wish I would have taken more pictures of the food we had there. I only took this one. it was this huge angel food truffle cake. to die for.

and this is our awesome cook Christi her and and her husband Troy are the caregivers and I have to say some of the nicest people.
