6 words

Another challenge in the KK Beyond Layers class was to pick our 6 words  something inspired by an Smith Magazine    we need to pick 6 that describes us

Now I have a hard time with this as I have said before but I came up with this:



live life for today not tomorrow

what does that mean well it means I try not to let my past rule my present and my future    sure our past shapes our future but its what builds us as a person  life has ups and downs, good and bad, happy and sad, if it didn't well we might as well be a rock because there would be no emotion in our lives  no sparks to keep us going to the next day

so I try to think of today as just a stepping stone for tomorrow and a new adventure awaits just on the other side of that rainbow

picture taken in 2007 in Hoonah Alaska in the icy straight,  we were on a cruise and suppose to go to Skagway well rough seas prevented it so we changed to Hoonah at first we were sad because we had a fun train ride planned but oh were we so glad we ended up here.  to this day we talk about some of the unexpected ventures we had that day.  it was fitting to have this rainbow show up on one of those adventures some of my favorite pictures came from that little town

as we close one year's calendar and open up another year spend a few moments to reflect on the year  remember the good times, the laughs but also the sad and the sorrow.  

From all memories we grow the good and the bad.    

This is a picture my sister in law in Texas took a few years ago I edited it and added some words and borders. I have yet to get a successful picture of a cardinal but then again we don't see them where I live one day I will have my own cardinal picture but until then I love this one.

what is your word for 2012 ???

Over at My Heart Art  Geri asked us to link up what our word for the year would be.  She chose balance which is always a word I try to keep in my mind and at first I was thinking oh that is what I should have then I remember something I said to my brother the other day when he asked about new years resolutions.  I said I didn't have any I only had personal challenges for 2012

by definition challenge is many different things to me it is how I motivate myself.

ok one more brief interuption and then back to hurricane ridge.  I just couldn't resist playing in the edit me at my reflection of something.  I had the perfect use for it. 



i had this texture for a long time one of the first I downloaded unfortunetly I don't really know whose it is all i have is pareerica on flickr group will have to do some research maybe I can find it on flickr. ugh  I didn't know how to save them properly so that I could find the owner of them back then sorry.

love is....

used a few kim klassen edits on this one.  taken while at the beach the rock isn't perfect heart but close.   so drew a heart around it and took a picture.  but wanted to add words but make them look like they were written in the sad so used pse for that here is a snipit of what I did.

ocean dreams

one of the best things about stolling along the beach, a quiet deserted beach, is that you can reflect, think and dream.  I added some pumpkin grunge and dream textures by kim klassen to this picture to spice it up a bit.

rainy days

Today was suppose to be the song challenge of a song you can play on an instrument.  well I can play NOTHING zip Nada nothing I tell you so instead I am playing in Kim Klassen's texture Tuesday check out her website at; http://www.kimklassencafe.com/    she has some awesome textures. 

I took this on a blah no blue sky day in DC recently.  by adding a little texture I made it more interesting.

feel the music

I have always felt music should be felt not just heard.  Music is so much more then the sound of a voice and instruments.  A musician creates from the soul.  a talent I think that you are either born with or not born with. I was not born with it but I can see the beauty in almost every kind of music there is.  You can hear the words, and the sounds of the instruments but until you feel the music you don't really experience the music the way the artist envisioned their creation. 

My son is a drummer and a pretty good one at that and I don't say that because I am his mom.  he played in a band for a long time but currently just plays for fun because he is young and life is to busy with work and his business adventures.  But he will always have music in his life.  this is a picture of him a couple of years ago.  sadly the only one I have of him playing outside of the house.  And really not a good picture so altering it with layers, masks and words I feel like it brought it a new life. 

this picture also leads me into a new month.  April is going to be song month.  Alissa at Have Stroller will travel has challenged  a few of us to post to our blogs with a line up of some of favorite songs and such. the blog roll to the right of this post shows those playing.  please check them out.   if you would like to take part please let us know and we will add you to our blog roll.

one touch of nature

did this for Kim klassen's texture Tuesday.  Added her warm sun texture and a little lens flare to accentuate the bit of flare already present on the tulip.

another class project from kim klassen's skinny minny course using adjustment layers, textures and masks.  I so learned something new 'screen" wow cool now my textures work

this daffodil was actually taken on a light box in the dark around midnight a couple of nights ago added a couple of different masks including a bight bokeh I found but can't remember where i found it on the web.  Normally i rename my masks and textures with where I got them like the rim is by shadowhouse but darn it this was one of the first in my collection and I don't remember where i found it.  This daffodil was part of a test I was trying but haven't done the rest the rest of the test yet need to figure that part out in photoshop too.

hope you are enjoying my words and quotes this month.  along with my experimenting.  Next month is music month.

tradition

My husband's family has a tradition of doing shots for special birthday celebrations.  Since a couple of family members don't live in the same state together they are called on the phone and everyone toasts at the same time.  this weekend was the birthday celebration of his oldest sister and we couldn't make it for the party.  Its a fun tradition and makes everyone feel like they are closer. Happy Birthday Anne!!!!!


my words and textures this month have really taught me how to do a lot more with photoshop and I think it has created a monster.  I am loving it.  adding the texture in this picture did a lot for it since there was some stuff in the kitchen that cluttered up the picture.

new life

Another class project.  I am taking the skinny minny class from Kim klassen.  not as happy with my choice of images but haven't had a chance to take a new photo so grabbed these tulips from an old file.  this class we learned adjustment layers.
