blowing in the wind

recently i went to an outdoor quilt show in Reardon, Washington.  It is out in the middle of a wheat field and usually a fun little show.  this year the wind was blowing like crazy.  making picture taking hard and with the grass seed kicking up in the air causing allergy problems so we didn't stay long.

I waited and waited for the quilts to come down patience isn't my best friend so this was the best shot





I love how they cover the barns with quilts

I bought the book to make this quilt the last time I came.  and have I done it yet?? of course not don't be silly stash is being made for sometime in the future when time is more on my side

color in the midst of none

the annual buggy barn quilt show held in the middle of some wheat fields where the buggy barn is located near Reardan, Washington.

take a dusty road to get to the destination and you will find lots of beautiful quilts.  the above quilt was one of the patterns we bought.  my husband was with me and really loved it.  His favorite holiday is Halloween.  Of course I have YET to make a quilt but soon. 

was fun.  Although I have to admit after going to the sisters oregon quilt show in July well I was spoiled by that show.  but we had a great time

this would have been a great shot if people weren't around but I guess that would never happen. lol

for me the piece work always amazes me how they can bring different fabrics together to make one thing.

are you bored with quilts yet??? well there were almost 1300 quilts at teh show and after an entire day there I only took 200 pictures and most have NOT made it on my blog site.

horses, dogs and turtles

one of the amazing quilts we saw this weekend.  sadly with over 1200 quilts I did not get the names of all the owners/creators of these quilts.   this horse quilt was one of the quilts in the teachers tent area and wow what a quilt.  a closer look you can really appreciate the creativity of this artist.

as you can see each horse is made up of several small pieces of fabric and then quilting on top of that.

corgi's are so cute i love how you can just wonder what they are looking at.

a smaller wall hanging quilt with amazing beauty and what you can't see is all the extras added to this.  like sequins, jewels and special threads. many hours went into this.

It was great to meet the owner (again sadly I don't have her name) by accident actually.  while sitting in a small park area i was talking to my mom about how i really liked art quilts and scene quilts.  like that turtle one over there (pointing across the park to this section of quilts).  well a lady sitting a few feet away heard me and said thanks that is my quilt.  so of course I needed to get her picture with it.

This was my favorite quilt (couldn't get the whole thing in the picture without someone standing in the way grrr) I just loved the black and white with a touch of color. the barn doors open, and there is a tiny pair of shorts hanging on the drying line.


This was my second favorite. Lots of detail
and of course my favorite subject animals.

I would love to make something like this some day. I have a friend that I really think would love it.
this is even more stunning in person it is huge and so rich in color. the show is not the best place to photograph due to many people and I think if I would have had a step stool it really would have helped. lol

I loved this interpretation of life behind glass put onto fabric. great capture.
