well not exactly sharks but sting rays. you have to shuffle your feet on the sandbar so you don't accidentally step on one. their barbs are sharp but unless they thrust one into you they are pretty safe.
We headed out to stingray city and swam with them. It was the coolest thing I have ever done I think. They are so like cats they rub up against you hoping to get a treat. i didn't feed any but kissed one and held one.
this is the eye of the stingray kinda weird. Not a bad picture for a disposable water camera, didn't want to chance taking my camera in the water.
when you lift them up they spit at you. totally funny when it spit all over a lady.
Incredible! Is this a commercial place, or is it just an area in the wild where they gather? Love to try this!
ReplyDeleteto answer your question it is in the wild where they gather called sting ray city. A sand bar basically out in the water where they know they are going to get food when people are out there
ReplyDeleteI can't help but think about the Crocodile Hunter who was killed by one in a freak accident. I think I would be too afraid to pick one up or swim with one. Good for you for being brave and doing it.
