lovelock - a short story

we have driven past lovelock dozens of times since living in Washington state.  we have family in Nevada so we have driven that route many times.  This time we said lets stop.  the full story of lovelock is here.  the short story is a Chinese custom of locking ones love on a never ending chain. (incidentally we are not Chinese contrary to junk mail)




I picked up a lock before leaving reno so that we could add it to the locks.



there are many stories on these chain links.


so behind the courthouse in a little town we have our lock.  we have been married 24 years this july and hope to celebrate many many more years.



and since I couldn't take a picture with one hand with my regular camera a shot from my phone to prove it really was us there.



so next time you are passing lovelock why not stop in and put your lock on the chain.  or maybe you know of another place like this I am sure there are many.

tradition

My husband's family has a tradition of doing shots for special birthday celebrations.  Since a couple of family members don't live in the same state together they are called on the phone and everyone toasts at the same time.  this weekend was the birthday celebration of his oldest sister and we couldn't make it for the party.  Its a fun tradition and makes everyone feel like they are closer. Happy Birthday Anne!!!!!


my words and textures this month have really taught me how to do a lot more with photoshop and I think it has created a monster.  I am loving it.  adding the texture in this picture did a lot for it since there was some stuff in the kitchen that cluttered up the picture.

That hubby on a mission. His mission to suck up every maple leaf seed in the yard. We have millions of them this year its insane. And it really drives him crazy. If that tree in the back didn't shade the house so well and if we had air conditioning it would be removed in a heart beat.

our mini trip is over. It was good to get away together. Sad to go home to the cold weather too. the coldest its been was 67 and the warmest it has been at home is 37 not fun. oh well.

On our visit to Vegas we rented a car and headed to the valley of fire. the red rocks were awesome. we hiked around for about 4 hours. It was the highlight of Dave's trip.

well I just had to add a second photo for the 365. On our way back from the valley of fire we got a call from Dave's niece and she was in Vegas for the day. It was an awesome surprise so we met up with her at Mandalay bay and had a few drinks and lots of talk together. She was with some friends of hers and they wanted to try the minus 5 below bar. Everything was made from Ice including the glasses that held our apple martinis. Truly a fun experience made hundred times better because of her visit.
