We planted our first small vegetable garden this weekend after almost 23 years of marriage we decided that it would be a fun project. we decided on a container grown one and put it on the new patio we put in the lower part of the yard last year. We planted snap peas, string beans, cantaloupe, zucchini and marigolds to help keep the bugs out of the garden.
added some Kim Klassen textures and a shadowhouse mask see more fun with textures at kim's texture tuesday.

Here is the receipe for what I did above:

I love how rich the colors are in this! Such lovely browns and greens!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind comment on my photo! We want to plant our first veggie garden this year too. We're off to a late start, it's been so rainy!
ReplyDeleteI hope all goes well with the garden, pumpkin grunge was a good choice.

Very nice garden! We got one out last weekend.

Hi! I've tried to plant one last year and it didn't do too good. This year I am not planting anything. LOL

I always have a garden...except this year since we are moving soon! I intend to grow some late summer and fall things when we get settled again:) Your garden looks great. The zucchini can easily overtake your garden as it grows as good as a weed:)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the garden. Hope you get some delicious goodies from it. We planted some bell peppers, crenshaw, cilanto, chives and cherry tomatoes. Now all we have to do is water and keep away the squirrels! Enjoyed your photo.
ReplyDeleteyay! good luck with the new garden.
ReplyDeleteOh I like this. B
ReplyDeletesuperb colors! lovely work...
ReplyDeleteThat's the kind of garden I would like! As it is, my husband has 5 tomato plants in big containers; that's the extent of our garden. Your image is beautifully edited.
ReplyDeleteNicely done, we keep talking about growing some vegetables but haven't got around to it yet. We have a lot of deer where we live so it could be quite the challenge.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by. Good luck with your gardening project. It's lovely and I hope it goes well.
ReplyDeleteLooks great! Good luck with it I hope you have lots of veggies to enjoy this summer.
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I considered a container garden, but given we had snow at my house over the weekend, I'm thinking there won't be a long enough growing season for me to give it a go this year.
ReplyDeleteI love the garden! We have one too, but we've had nothing but thunderstorms non-stop. It's ruining it.... I'm so jealous of yours! (and the photo is fabulous!)
ReplyDeleteYour processing nicely enhanced the colors in the photo. Good luck with the garden!
ReplyDeleteYour editing on this photo works wonderfully. I keep thinking I should do something like this with my daughter, but keeping things alive in the summer heat of Texas might prove tough!
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by my blog today and for your lovely comments.
Looks like a lovely little garden! Nice texture work!
ReplyDeletePeace!
Oh yum! What lovely processing on this too :) (And yes, the "yum" was in anticipation of nice home grown yummies!)
ReplyDeleteThis is just fantastic!!
ReplyDeleteI tried some container gardening last year, and it actually turned out quite nicely.
Ooops!
ReplyDeleteDid not see that you had linked this up at The Creative Exchange.
Thank you so very much for doing so!
lisa.
I'll be interested to hear how the garden grows - - - me having a black thumb and all!
ReplyDeleteThat's such a cute little garden! So neat and weed free! :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your garden. I didn't know that marigolds will keep out the bugs :)
ReplyDeleteYum! I love gardening! Hope it grows well!
ReplyDeleteHow fun. Good luck. I have my own little patch of goodness!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your harvest.

ReplyDeletelooks a fantastic new garden and love the shot and description.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the garden. We have a small vegie patch (consisting of tomato plant and some herbs) on our balcony and I'm looking forward to being able to taste some of our homegrown stuff this autumn.
ReplyDeleteGreat project - I love container gardening! It will be interesting to see how things grow over the season. Thanks for showing the layers of how you achieved your end product - great combination of textures!
