Purple raindrops

The phone picture doesn't do it justice you can see it better on her site here:  http://dychedesigns.blogspot.com/2013/01/free-giveaway-raindrops.html

I won it off her blog and just thrilled. It will be going in my bedroom which is lilac themed.
I have admired her paintings and journal books for a while but having one in my hands will likely cause me to buy another

You can check out her etsy site here:  http://www.etsy.com/shop/dychedesigns

Art is something that is personal to the holder and the maker but art is best when shared with others

Memorial Day

memorial day is a day to honor all Americans that have given their lives in the many wars they have served in.

painting at arlington

I was very moved by this painting when we visited Arlington Cemetery in April.  I have posted many pictures over the last few weeks and still have a few more to share from my recent visit to DC.  so many people gave their lives not only in the armed forces but civilians as well to keep us Free.  I am honored to be an American and proud to call this land mine.  I hope no one takes this for granted we are free by the blood of many and this day we honor those.

the edge of gravity

DC APRIL2011_0817

a painting on the side of a building in Frederick, MD  this is one of three located throughout town.  this one is called "the edge of gravity" by william m cochran    i like the way he seems to be looking up at the empty window above as if calling out to someone

this is the second painting.  I did not see the third

hear the news??

DC APRIL2011_0795c

I was in Frederick, MD.  hahaa   I am a sucker for murals painted on buildings I don't know why but I am drawn to them.  I love how they make the building unique and stand out.  I spent the day in this lovely town being shown all the great buildings.  As you see in this picture it is famous for its church spires.

there is a blog where the photographer took a picture a day for a year called a year on market street.

http://badkins55.wordpress.com/

he just ended the year a couple of weeks ago so look back in its archives.  He is now doing the historical district so that should be very interesting.

And my friend has a blog that posts pictures from frederick and dc as well check it out here:

horsepower

while visiting the rocky reach dam I saw this mural in the visitors center. I just fell in love with it. from above you can see the wall is curved to depict a dam and you can see dark and white horses in the mural depicting the water flowing over and the power or horsepower that is created from that water. took a while to find more information on it but HERE is more information on a blog I found which is how I found out the painter was walter Graham.

a close up of the work.
More on the dam later I just had to reserve this spot to honor this painter.

357/365

Mom should learn never to trust Dave and myself to do a task for her. She bought the below painting while we were on Fremont street in Vegas. She bought it for my brother and left it in my hands to frame. Its done by with spray paint we were totally mesmerized by it. Anyhow we decided that on the outside my husband would draw his own very talented painting. lol
