room for me???

DSC_0181_3249

this was my favorite photo even though it is not the best from our entire weekend to the coast.  there is a place called the olympic game farm that is 84 acres of mostly open range for many animals.  you can pay to drive through the park and see all kinds of animals some up close and personal like above.

this bison was huge and we had bread to feed it (purchased for an extra 2.00 and the best 2 bucks I have ever spent)   my husband had already given this guy a couple of pieces and the car ahead of us had moved up so we did too.  I was busy feeding one on my side when boom this guy bumps his nose back through the window on my husbands side.  at one point he had his whole head in the car at which I didn't get a shot because i was laughing so hard.  of course hubby is trying to shoo this 2000 + pound animal out of the car so he could roll up the window.  saying no no no no and pushing on his nose.  he did finally leave at the urging of another piece of bread but not before we both were laughing so hard we had tears running down our eyes.

I have some more pictures of the park and our great weekend trip to share later but this just had to be my first post because of the memory.

DISCLAIMER:  do not attempt this with wild animals these are still wild animals but because of their upbringing have been exposed to humans and gentler but a wild animal is always a wild animal and can turn on you at any time so be respectful of that ALWAYS.

where the deer and the antelope play and.....

anything else that might be around.  hahaha.  the bison range has many other animals to spot besides elusive hiding deer and bison.  like this deer:

and elk:

and antelope

the antelope were car stoppers too as they argued as to when to cross the road (at least in minds thoughts that is what they were thinking)

home on the range

montana july 2011_1882

the bison roam free throughout the range so you never know where they might be.  at one point we ran across a large amount of them grazing in this meadow.

to learn more about the range go here:  http://www.fws.gov/bisonrange/nbr/

there are also other animals on the range like black bear.  I can not confirm nor deny that there is a black bear in this shot but I am going to say it is. hahaha.  actually it probably is to far away for my 105 to get but this was the area there was an earlier report of a bear in

we say goodbye

montana july 2011_1842l

and as we leave our little trip to montana bison range I leave you with this lone elk on the ridge to say goodbye and until next time.

I hope you enjoyed the range it truely is a great place to spend 5.00 a car load, drive 19 miles up and down hills, spot all kinds of wildlife and enjoy nature from the comfort of your car while it enjoys its own safety and freedom.  Best 2 1/2 hours I have spent.

OPPPS this was suppose to be scheduled out for the 18th of july but nope hit publish before checking the date.  my bad.  watch for this developing story soon.
