wheels in the wheatfield

lewiston balloon ride 2011 august_2835

This is located at the artisans at dahman barn in uniontown, washington.   we have passed it a few times but never stopped.  this summer we decided we would and oh wow so glad we did.  it sits on the edge of a farm in a super small town (like 30+ people I think) there are at least 100 different artists that share their work inside the barn and about 20 that have studios where you can watch them work as well.  i came away with my christmas ornament for this year, a mouse of course.

this is the outside of the barn where there is a fence made of hundreds of wheels welded together.  i loved how this looked out into the wheat fields and how the clouds were formed that day.  sometimes a picture just makes itself.

i love this shot   I don't say that much about my own work only because I super critical of my work always thinking I could have done this or that better I guess that is good because i am learning.  I was looking at my tag cloud (scary) and started cleaning it up and noticed some very old posts and thought good grief that is horrible I should delete it.  but it is a reminder of my improvement so they stay.

this is a picture of the barn with the fence around it. so you can see how many wheels are there.

  2. Both images are satisfying.
The top one works at so many levels:
The sharp contrast of Industry versus Nature [brilliant cropping/positioning].
The scenery loses detail as you go further away and almost becomes abstract.
A 'painting' with a story. Well done to my eyes.

  5. Wow! Gorgeous landscapes and incredible skies! The clarity and colours of your photos are quite stunning. Makes me think of the song "Will the circle be unbroken?"

  6. What an amazing juxtaposition of the rusted, formerly hard-working wheel and the pastoral setting behind it. It really works!

Thank you for sharing your work on Photo Art Friday!

  8. These are gorgeous images! Now tell me, where is Uniontown? I'm a Washingtonian and I don't know this beautiful place YET.

  10. Oh my goodness, this shot hit too close to home. First off the pictures are beautiful, second, I wish I was with you. I've wanted to go to the barn for a long time. I was engaged to a man many years ago that was from Uniontown (his family still lives there), but he passed away before we got married. His mom and dad are involved in the Dahman barn. I haven't seen them since the funeral (28 years ago) though I have seen his sister a few times. I've been though there a a hand full of times but never had the guts to stop in. Did you take any pictures inside the barn? Thanks for sharing these photos.
