from another world

well maybe just Newport, washington but it sure looks like it.  anyone know what this is?? I found it while on a walk near near a pond.  It is huge too the leaves are probably 3 times as big as my hands.

edited to add I have found out what this plant is thanks to Laura at pretty pix    in her own words: It's a Trillium, a wildflower that likes our damp cool Springs, here in the Pacific Northwest
