horizontal or vertical??

someone once told me to try to take pictures both directions horizontally and vertically because you might need to have a picture go one way and not the other.  which do you prefer?

    I like the horizontal for this picture. I find myself taking a lot of vertical pictures lately.

    I like the first picture best but sometimes you just need to turn the lens around for the height! Plus I have been crafting and couldn't find the right fit for the craft so I try to take both horizontal and vertical of the same thing just in case!
